In January BVCG members were invited to make calligraphic greeting cards to be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. Members could donate one or more cards which would be sold at one of the Cancer Society's fundraisers. The submission deadline for cards was set for March 31, 2007.
WOW! The response to this call for cards was incredible with a total of 634 cards donated, including 112 cards from the Edmonton Calligraphic Society. The cards have been given to the Cancer Society's Calgary and District Unit Office. The Society was delighted to receive the cards and has given the BVCG a "Certificate of Appreciation for exemplary efforts in the fight against cancer" and also a letter of appreciation.
I would like to sincerely thank all of the BVCG members who donated cards. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated. Our Guild definitely stepped up to the plate for this project. What a wonderful variety of cards of all shapes and sizes; I am truly proud to be a BVCG member.
